Homework Policy
Second Grade Homework Policy
Homework is an important component of education. Parents are responsible for making homework a priority: providing a quiet, distraction-free, well-lit, well-supplied place to work; motivating children; and supporting them through the successful completion of all tasks.
Second graders will be required to complete 15-30 minutes of homework on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday is a "homework free" day. In addition to the homework, 15 minutes of reading (completion of a reading log) is also required.
The weekly homework plan:
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday ~ 2 sided math sheet to reinforce concepts taught in class that day.
Monthly ~ Reading Log will go home once a month

Children will be required to color one picture on the sheet for every 15 minutes of reading they do. Dojo points will be rewarded when the log is passed in. Reading is either a shared or individual experience. It should be part of every child’s routine.
* There will be opportunities for children to engage in “challenge” activities at home. These activities are optional and are listed on the back of the reading log. If your child chooses to do the activities it will reflect on your child’s report card if completed consistently and accurately.

*Other projects will be assigned occasionally throughout the year based on our units of study.
If at any time you have questions or concerns about an assignment, please feel free to contact your child's teacher. Thank you in advance for your support.
